Lace fabrics are made of yarn or thread in an open weblike pattern, by machine or by hand. Traditionally linen, silk, gold, or silver threads were used. Nowadays lace is often made with cotton or synthetic fibres. There are lots of different types of lace such as chantilly, bobbin, needle, crochet, tatting and guipure, ranging from lightweight to heavy, each with a unique look.
