VISCOSE & LYOCELL

VISCOSE & LYOCELL

'YOU CAN THINK OF VISCOSE AS SILK MADE FROM TREES, AND LIKE SILK, IT NEEDS TO BE TREATED GENTLY TO STAY BEAUTIFUL FOR A LONG TIME.'

Viscose and Lyocell are semi-synthetic fibre, with a natural base such as wood, which is then transformed into cellulosic fibres via a spinning process that uses chemicals. These fibers are soft, skin-friendly and have high dry strength.

VISCOSE

One of the key issues to consider in ensuring viscose production is not harmful to the environment is the forest of origin for this fiber. That's why we are committed to only source viscose from responsible producers, who do not source from Ancient and Endangered Forests. We only use viscose from producers which have been rated “Green Shirt” in Canopy’s Hot Button ranking. This means they have been audited by a third-party auditor, and been evaluated as industry leaders in raw material sourcing by non-profit forest protection organisation Canopy. Most of our viscose stems from FSC certified producers ENKA and Lenzing.

LYOCELL

A star among the eco-friendly fibres, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are made from wood pulp, sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests. The fibres are manufactured in an innovative environmentally friendly closed loop production system, patented by producer Lenzing. An all-rounder in sustainability, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres have an outstanding colour brilliance and a natural soft touch and support the body’s natural thermal regulation.

CARE

  • As always, please consult the care label on your product, as it may contain specific guidance due to colour, print, construction and/or end-use.

  • Consider if your garment requires washing or if airing it out is enough to make it fresh again.

  • Standard machine wash cycle is not advised due to intense twisting, which can damage clothing. For some viscose garments, dry cleaning is the only option! If the care label indicates so, please take it to a professional cleaner.

  • Viscose and Lyocell are best washed using the hand wash cycle or wool programme of your washing machine. Even 30° Celsius is sometimes too hot for viscose or Lyocell, so in general we recommend to wash in cold water and to select a low speed cycle (up to 600 rpm).

  • Our top tip for viscose? After washing, place your garment on a thick towel and allow it to absorb the water. This process gets rid of excess water without having to wring out your clothing.

  • Always allow your viscose and lyocell products to air dry. This is better for the environment and also prevents any shrinking and/or tears.

  • Iron your viscose or lyocell garments turned inside out on a low temperature. Be careful not to press the seams as this may leave marks. You can also carefully steam the garment on a low level.

  • In general, be aware that viscose and lyocell shrinks and wrinkles easily during washing and may feel a bit stiff afterwards. However, carefully ironing or steaming your garment will expand and soften the material again.
