Care Guide Viscose
'YOU CAN THINK OF VISCOSE AS SILK MADE FROM TREES, AND LIKE SILK, IT NEEDS TO BE TREATED GENTLY TO STAY BEAUTIFUL FOR A LONG TIME.'
Viscose and Lyocell are semi-synthetic fibre, with a natural base such as wood, which is then transformed into cellulosic fibres via a spinning process that uses chemicals. These fibers are soft, skin-friendly and have high dry strength.
VISCOSE
One of the key issues to consider in ensuring viscose production is not harmful to the environment is the forest of origin for this fiber. That's why we are committed to only source viscose from responsible producers, who do not source from Ancient and Endangered Forests. We only use viscose from producers which have been rated “Green Shirt” in Canopy’s Hot Button ranking. This means they have been audited by a third-party auditor, and been evaluated as industry leaders in raw material sourcing by non-profit forest protection organisation Canopy. Most of our viscose stems from FSC certified producers ENKA and Lenzing.
LYOCELL
A star among the eco-friendly fibres, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres are made from wood pulp, sourced from certified, sustainably managed forests. The fibres are manufactured in an innovative environmentally friendly closed loop production system, patented by producer Lenzing. An all-rounder in sustainability, TENCEL™ Lyocell fibres have an outstanding colour brilliance and a natural soft touch and support the body’s natural thermal regulation.
